We won!

10/21/2015

YAY! I was contacted today by the Happy Trails Committee and was informed that we had won. I do not know what place, yet. The award ceremony in on Tuesday of next week at 6:30, during the town council meeting. All our hard work paid off. Everyone did such a great job and we are being recognized for that hard work. You all deserve it! You all are magnificent! You all are Cougars!

Congratulations, everyone!

What a week! Storms, practice and parade...oh my! Through it all, the mighty Cougars held strong and rose to the top. Everyone did such a great job and that goes for the parents, too! Thank you for your help. It would not have been what it was without your help. We made our kids look amazing (you all looked so cute in your hats! Color Guard was amazing, ladies.) and made some great memories. I heard a lot of positive comments about you all. Drum line, you had them dancing in the streets. Our hat trick was too cool. ;) We moseyed on in and rustled up a good bit of fun.

Again, everyone involved, my profound thanks for all you do.

Two more weeks...Sun devil Classic. On to the next adventure.

For Band!
For Glory!

This is it! The last game. Seniors, this is your time. Band, this is our night. We are the heart of the school. Let's show everyone our beat!

Please, I need all individuals who will be in the parade at rehearsal tomorrow...ON TIME! We looked amazing today. I am so impressed at how well you all have gotten. BUT, we needed everyone there. Let's do this Cougars. We need to be a band, not 3/5 of a band. It hurts us when we don't have everyone there.

Tomorrow, let's make the most of our time together and enjoy this last game...and them get ready for the parade! ;) You all have worked so hard, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! Band thanks you! Music thanks you! You should all feel very proud of the hard work you ALL have done to make this possible. Tomorrow, let's have fun. Saturday, let's let Apple Valley hear our Cougar roar and WIN!

Go Cougars!
G-High!

Above is the our confirmation letter (PDF). Please read through it and email me if you have any questions. From the PDF:  "Do not drop off participants at Central and Hwy. 18. Drop off location is corner of Niabi & Shawnee RD at road closure."

"Marching Units: Marching units will meet at Shawnee and Niabi Rd. (Note: There are empty lots at this corner for your group to assemble in.) All marching units will disband at Pawnee and Powhatan in the parking lot in front of ballfield #4 & in basketball and playground area at the Community Center. Parents can park at or near the community center parking lot and meet their children when the parade is over."

Please make sure to take a look at the map. Niabi & Shawnee RD are right behind Central and Hwy. 18 but you will not be able to get to it because of road closures. Take a look at the map in the PDF for more info. Email me any questions.

We are looking and sounding good. Our hats are in and color guard have their costumes. We are going to win! We are going to be amazing! We are the mighty magnificent Cougars!

Chris, Michael, Christian, Steven, Derick, Wyatt, Dylan and Missy, congratulations. Trumpets are section of the week!

I know I have asked a lot of you all. It is difficult and a sign of maturity to do things that take us out of our comfort zone. Being asked to play another instrument is challenging but one that will cause you to grow. It will help make you a better musician. It is what is needed for our band. Our band needed you and you stepped up. I am proud of that. You all are trying to make the necessary changes for our band to be successful, ALL of band. This is not lost to me. I appreciate your hard work, dedication and sacrifices. Thank you!

Congratulations and keep it up!

Albert and Claudia, congratulations. Flutes are section of the week.

Albert, your dedication to the band (and your cell phone, haha) are apparent. You are one of the individuals I can count on to be at rehearsals and games. Although quite, and not by choice(!), you make a BIG impact on the band. One of only two flutes, you hold your own! In addition, taking up the piccolo was a big help and one that shows growth. I am very proud. Keep it up!

Claudia, your tone and sound is maturing nicely. The flutes section is small but mighty because of your hard work. I have been noticing you trying to balance your school work, practice and games. I know it is hard and I thank you for the sacrifices made. You matter and add to the wonderful sound of band. Thank you! Keep it up!

Great job, flutes! Way to go!

Vanessa and Tyler, congratulations. Tenor sax section is this weeks winner for section of the week.

Tyler, I am proud of how well you have been improving and gaining in your understanding of the tenor. You still need to practice but I am very happy with your progress. Your tone and facility have improved and I can count on your sound adding to the band. Great job!

Vanessa, I would not be able to do half of what I do with out your help. Your "can do" attitude is infectious. You assuming responsibilities, when no one asks, are the qualities of a leader. I can always trust in your council. Your contributions make this band better.

Congrats, tenor section. Keep up the great work!
